Will cannabis dishes be the trend of the year?
Many people think restaurants specializing in cannabis menus are going to be the trend of the year. In Italy cannabis dishes have already been proposed several times, but it seems that there is no “dedicated” restaurants like “The Canna Kitchen – Let food be the medicine” in Brighton. As the restaurant’s website says, cannabis is “a highly nutritious, versatile and powerful herb”, as well as being “fragrant and tasty”. Canna Kitchen opened at the end of 2018 and it seems to be already a success. It offers a range of gluten free and vegan dishes, energy bowls, creams, tabbouleh, tahini… all seasoned with cannabidiol oil. The addition of cannabis is obviously guaranteed with a THC level that falls within the limits allowed by law.

Here’s again Canapa Mundi in Rome
“Canapa Mundi”, the Rome exhibition dedicated to cannabis, starts next weekend. After 30,000 visitors last year, “Canapa Mundi 2019” will take place in 10,000 square meters with 250 exhibitors, a rich calendar of events, a food area, shows, cultural moments to get to know the different uses of hemp and its value. Between sustainability and well-being, with an eye to new trends, the fifth edition of Canapa Mundi – which represents the largest Italian trade exhibition in the sector and third in Europe – will bring the attention on the virtuous properties of the precious plant in the cosmetic field. “Canapa Mundi” is the reference point for specialists in the sector, for those who would like to enter this market, but also for curious people and families who want to know the world of hemp.

The billionaire of marijuana and its extraordinary rise
In Canada, recreational cannabis is now fully legalised. For many years we will not know the consequences on the lives of Canadians, on the economy, on the black market and on crime, but some entrepreneurs have already had a significant impact on their business. Brendan Kennedy is the CEO of Tilray, a pharmaceutical company that works with cannabis both to make products for medical use and for a whole line of derivatives for recreational use. In July 2018, Tilray went public and since then its value has grown by 315% to $9 billion. Today, this man is the richest man in the world in the marijuana business, especially after signing a $100 million partnership contract with AB InBev, one of the largest multinationals in the beer industry. An agreement that came after the one signed in 2018 with Novartis. The sector is constantly expanding: marijuana is legal for medical or recreational use in 36 countries around the world and in at least 33 states of the United States, although at federal level it is still illegal. Now, despite Trump and the Republican government, it is expected that the U.S. will bring down the illegality, under the pressure of the three major lobbies: pharmaceutical, tobacco and beer – all interested in using cannabis to invent new products. According to Kennedy, in 2021 the countries in which medical marijuana will be legalized will double.
